Local fireworks vendors said they expect an increase in customers after cities around the state announced plans to cancel annual firework displays due to supply chain issues.
We got a little bit less than we generally do, so we have noticed it a little bit, says Zubin Lakdawalla from TNT Fireworks. According to Lakdawalla, customers prefer to set up their own personal fireworks display.
He said that because gigs in Phoenix and many other cities have been entirely cancelled, some people want to hold their concerts. For the past eight years, Lakdawalla has been in charge of managing the fireworks stand at the Fry’s parking lot near Thomas Road and 32nd Street.
“Everything here is secure and sane, so it’s enjoyable for the whole family,” Lakdawalla concluded.
Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, and other Arizona locales all had shows rescheduled.
A few clients voiced worry about finding their fireworks. Added Maggie Hahn: “I felt a little scared.
She stated: “I’ve seen these stands springing up all everywhere, so I’m no longer as scared.
That sentiment was echoed by James and Stacey Austin. We miss Tempe because it was a lot of fun, James remarked. But this is also excellent, Stacey remarked.
The drought in California has forced the cancellation of a popular fireworks show in the northern San Joaquin Valley for the third year in a row. Flagstaff in northern Arizona postponed its fireworks display due to fire safety concerns; nevertheless, a laser show will follow its annual Fourth of July parade downtown.
This is the bright spot, according to Vyas from USC. He suggested that towns try various types of festivities in favor of pyrotechnic ones due to the myriad environmental hazards surrounding these enormous fireworks displays.
In the cities that have postponed their fireworks shows, people are more likely to purchase commercially available pyrotechnics and celebrate at home. Farnsworth of the National Fireworks Association provides some advice.
