With the growing population different kinds of disease is also being introduced like covid 19, monkeypox, omicron etc. Like these diseases, we haven’t got any treatment for other diseases too. Diseases like neurological diseases, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, asthma etc which are long-lasting disease does not have a cure.

Alzheimer’s disease was first introduced in 1906. Dr, Alois was the first person to describe this disease. He came to know about this disease from a patient of his who had profound memory loss, unfounded suspicions about her family and other psychological changes. Since then this disease hasn’t got any cure but recently scientists have found a little hope in curing this disease.

Alzheimer’s is caused by an abnormal deposit of protein in the brain. Amyloid and tau are two key proteins present in the brain. But when affected by Alzheimer’s disease these proteins function abnormally and formed plaque and tangles. Tangles are present inside the plague.

These plagues destroy the nerve cells causing them to die. Due to the death of lots of cells, the brain starts shrinking which affects the hippocampus of the brain. The hippocampus plays an important role in forming memories.

As the hippocampus controls the forming of memories. People find it difficult in forming new memories and may forget things which are said in front of them. People who are affected by this disease may remember better memories from their childhood than now. Memories which are stored in the brain depend less on the hippocampus and more on other parts of the brain.

This disease also affects the amygdala which controls our emotions. When more cells die in Alzheimer’s disease the symptoms get worst and uncontrollable. It becomes harder to remember things and express their emotions.

After a throughout research, we found out they people are dealing with this Alzheimer’s disease by :

1. Writing important notes on a calendar or sticky notes.
2.  To remember numbers by drawing shapes.
3. Using electronic medication reminders.

Other treatments such as:

– Medicines that help improve mental functions and maintain brain health.

– A healthy diet and exercise.

– Social interactions with family members or friends.

These are the basics way that people are dealing with Alzheimer’s disease nowadays and getting positive responses from these ways. These treatment does not cure but helps to slow down the progression of the disease.

But a recent study showed that
People who used insulin and anti-diabetes have resulted in a reduction in brain pathologies. This shows a rise of hope in people who are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

It was a  type 2 diabetes drug that is associated with reduced brain plaque and better cognitive scores in people with Alzheimer’s disease. This was found by a new study that was published in Neurology earlier this week.

Scientists are still researching this and will soon find a cure for this disease
